Pewter Care & Information
Pewter does not need to be polished but can be, most people prefer to let the pewter age for that antique look.
It can be washed with soapy water and dried.
Pewter will not rust, tarnish or deteriorate.
It is the fourth ranked precious metal in the world following platinum, gold and silver.
The pewter that I sell is 100% lead and nickel free.
Pewter has been made for many centuries and was originally only available to the very wealthy.
Sterling Silver Care & Information
Silver in its pure form is too soft to make jewellery and other items, so it is mixed with other metals to make it more durable. Sterling Silver has 92.5% silver content. Copper is the most common metal used to make up the 7.5%
Sterling Silver jewellery should be stored in tarnish prevention cloths or bags. Keeping your jewellery in this fashion slows down the tarnishing process and prevents the pieces from rubbing against harder jewellery that can scratch it. Store in a cool, dry place.
Clean your sterling silver with a phosphate free detergent
Sterling silver that is continually worn can develop a patina - a sort of glow combined with darkened areas. If you like this look it is quite ok to leave it, or if you prefer it bright and shiny use polish to restore your sterling silver.
General Jewellery Care
All types of jewellery whether they are solid gold or plated etc should not be worn whilst showering/bathing, swimming, exercising or sleeping.
Wearing your jewellery during these activities will shorten the life of all types of jewellery - no matter what price you have paid for the piece.
