This stunning canopic jar is part of the bronze series from the Egyptian Veronese Collection range.


Measuring 20cm x 7cm x 7cm

Qebehsenuef, the falcon-headed jar representing the west, contained the intestines of the mummified and was protected by the Goddess Selket. This item is referenced to the set of 4, made in the Late Period,664-332BC. Canopic jars were in use from the Old Kingdom onwards in Egypt to store various internal organs removed during the process of mummification. They were four in number and eventually came to represent the Four Sons of Horus
